Steve at theLondon Marathon

This was Steve after 25 miles and four and three quarter  hours of running - only 1mile and 385 yards to go! and he made it in just under 5 hours. We (me, Valerie, Jill, Emily, Jack and Andy's family ) were there to cheer him on  (and the other 38,000 runners). Afterwards he was heard to say never again but already he is looking to do it again next year!!!!! 

Dad &Son have a day out in London

As a surprise for my birthday Paul and I went up to the top of big ben  - yes right up to where the bells are  hanging. Lots of steps to be climbed 344 up and 344 down but it was well worth it ! Apparently, unbeknown to me, negotiations had been going on for months to arrange the visit and it was well worth it.

We then retired to a local hostelry for some liquid refreshment and afterwards walked across St James' and Green parks which were beautiful with all the blossom just coming out. In the afternoon we visited a weird museum in Lincolns Inn called The Sir John Soanes museum. It's a collection of just about everything ranging from Egyptian tombs to all eight pictures of the Rakes progress by Hogarth. It was all put together by a wealthy collector 200 years ago and hasn't been changed since!

Zoe's Party

As you know Sunday was party day for Zoe and  she loved every minute of it as you can see from 'our pictures'.

Audley End

Last Thursday we decided to give ourselves a treat and went to Audley End which is an English Heritage property near Saffron Waldon. We had been there twice before but had particularly wanted  to go when the snowdrops were out as it is quite famous for its 'Snow Drop Walk'  - we weren't dissapointed! Emily's Certificate

Thought you might like to see the certificate Emily was presented with recently at school. Jill went and watched while Emily had to go up on stage and get the certificate from one of the governors. Isn't she a clever girl!   The certificate says:  'for a super start to her reception year and very good progress with her reading'

Holiday

Best plans for a holiday have been reduced as it's half term - forgotten that. I'm in the process of booking a cottage for Thursday and Friday nights which I'm looking forward to. If you want to look it up put 'Michill Cottage Castleton' into Google.

Hello Doreen - don't know whether Valerie mentioned it but we went to Bletchley Park yesterday as our outing for our wedding anniversary. It was mindblowing trying to understand how they cracked the German codes during the war. We were there for most of the day and still did not see everything so we will be going back. Luckily the tickets are valid for a year so we can go back any time we want. Whilst we were there we saw an exhibit of 'old' cars - one of them was the same as I learned to drive on !! Ah well I suppose it was 50 years ago that I learnt to drive.
